TRANSITIONAL EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM
The Transitional Employment (TE) Program enables MEMBERS OF THE CLUBHOUSE to re-enter the work force with ongoing support and assistance from colleagues in the Clubhouse. This unit assists individuals with job applications, resumes, interviews referrals and job searches. The Traverse House is always looking for new employers interested in offering part-time employment to our members. Call 231-922-2060 for more information.
(7/09) Currently we have 6 Transitional employment sites and hold between 6 and 30 positions with in these sites. Currently we are working at Interlochen Arts Academy, Triple R plastics, Northwest Michigan Community Blood Coalition, Traversefield and Bayshore Resort. We have approximately 60 members who work either at one of our TE sites or independently in the community.
INDIVIDUAL PLACEMENTS:
This placement allows the individual to experience a position in the work place for a 6-9 month time period. The employee is paid directly by the employer. If this is a positive and progressive experience for the employee and employer, the individual may apply as a Competitive employee and work independent of the Clubhouse. If the job-worker match is not conducive to progression the Traverse House would then train and place an alternative member in the position.
ABOUT TRAVERSE HOUSE
The Traverse House Clubhouse is a psychosocial rehabilitation center that is based on the International Center Clubhouse Development (ICCD) Model. Based on the Fountain House in New York City, the original clubhouse founded in 1948, the Clubhouse is designed to meet the needs of individuals living with chronic mental illness or emotional impairment. Within the Clubhouse Model, members carry out the work of the Clubhouse as a group. The Members support one another and are a vital component of the success of the clubhouse.
